The Seedling is a workshop exchange series that connects the fields of dance and somatics with intercultural dialogue and environmental contexts of practice, and which is based around an annual theme.

This 2025 year's theme is:

 Musicality of Inner Landscapes

For this special, London edition of the Seedling '25, we will seek to explore different ways in which we can utilise somatic movement practices, afro-contemporary and freestyle improvisation techniques to foster connection between inner musicality and the urban landscapes around us.

We will focus on finding new paths to inner listening and connecting to what moves us, melodically and what sounds, vibrations or sensations inspire the movement. We will be connecting to auditory aspects of the natural environment as an opening to our inner rhythms.

The workshops will explore how we can trust our embodied experiences to build our own  resilience and promote wellbeing by what feels good as well as how to adjust our mindsets and grow a toolkit of support strategies to use in daily life.

Throughout the course of the day, we will seek to find new entry points into this year’s theme, always opening ourselves to emerging possibilities, perspectives and opportunities presented by the workshop facilitators, as well as the participants themselves. We will explore sensations, imaginings, and shared inspirations.

The day at the Shepherd Studios will celebrate individuality of movement and new ways of accessing freedom of expression through movement.

You will be able to explore your own qualities of movement and learn how they can support and build your confidence in being and relating.

We will move and share in an open and inviting atmosphere, aided and enriched by the sounds of live music accompaniment inspired by the local landscapes.

How can we better relate to the world and develop a more symbiotic relationship with it that can support our own wellbeing?
